Materials of Distinction

Agate belongs to one of the world’s oldest traditions of stone ornament, shaped into beads and jewelry across ancient Asia and the Near East for thousands of years.

The single-line agate used in BIYI carries a natural white band across a dark ground, making each stone individually recognizable while still creating a repeated pattern across the bracelet.

Jambhala chose this material because the visible line can remain separate on every bead and still become continuous when the stones are placed together—a natural fit for a story built around two beings moving in coordination.

Material guide: Agate

From Story to Form

Biyi is remembered through the image of two birds, each with one wing and one eye, able to fly only when they come together.

Jambhala translates that paired movement through repeated dark agate beads, each carrying its own white line. No single mark completes the bracelet, but together those separate lines create a continuous rhythm.

The design keeps the relationship visible: connection does not require two parts to become identical before they can move together.

JEWELRY CARE

Keep your jewelry away from prolonged contact with water, perfume, lotions, sweat, and household cleaners. Remove it before showering, swimming, or exercise. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and store separately in a cool, dry place.

Natural stones, wood, amber, antler, and other natural materials may vary from piece to piece and can be sensitive to moisture, heat, strong sunlight, and impact. Avoid soaking, high temperatures, harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and hard knocks.

Jewelry is experienced not only by sight. The weight of a bead, the cool surface of stone, and the warmth wood gathers from the skin are all part of the piece.

A Jambhala piece is designed to be worn often and touched naturally, keeping its symbol—and the meaning you chose—close at hand.

We choose natural materials for their character, not for perfect uniformity. Grain, color, pattern, and surface will vary from one piece to another.

With wear, wood may deepen in tone, metal finishes may soften, and surfaces may take on subtle traces of touch. These natural changes are part of living with the piece.

THE MEANING IS YOURS

Every Jambhala piece begins with a meaning drawn from an old story. You may choose it for that meaning, for a memory of your own, or simply because you want to wear it. With time and wear, the piece becomes personal.
