About Jambhala
What is Jambhala?
Jambhala makes jewelry inspired by myth and folklore. Each design begins with a Being and the story behind it.
Why is the brand called JAMBHALA?
The name JAMBHALA comes from the Buddhist figure Jambhala, commonly associated with wealth and prosperity. Founder Fay chose the name with a simple hope: that the jewelry she created could hold space for the many different wishes people carry through life. Today, the brand draws from a wider world of mythology, folklore, literature, religious traditions, and old stories.
What is a Being?
A Being is a figure from myth or folklore whose story Jambhala translates into jewelry.
What is a Symbolic Anchor?
A Symbolic Anchor is a piece of jewelry tied to a story, idea, or memory you want to keep close. At Jambhala, it begins with a Being and the design shaped by that story.
Where do the stories come from?
The Beings come from old texts, mythology, folklore, poetry, religious and visual traditions, and later retellings. We look at how a story developed over time before deciding which part belongs in the jewelry.
How does a Being become jewelry?
We identify the features that make a Being recognizable, then translate them through shape, material, proportion, and the way the jewelry will be worn. The result should still work as jewelry even if you do not know the story.
What are the five Jambhala themes?
Protection, Clarity, Transformation, Connection, and Abundance. They are different ways to explore the Beings and their stories, not promises about what the jewelry will do.
Materials, Size & Care
Are natural materials identical from piece to piece?
No. Natural materials can vary in color, banding, inclusions, translucency, grain, surface marks, and pattern. Two pieces made from the same design may therefore look slightly different.
How should I care for my jewelry?
As a general rule, keep jewelry away from prolonged exposure to water, perfume, cosmetics, household chemicals, and strong impact. Store pieces separately when possible to reduce scratching and unnecessary friction. Follow any material-specific care instructions provided with the product.
How does Jambhala choose materials?
We choose materials for what they contribute to the jewelry—color, weight, texture, pattern, contrast, and wear—rather than assigning every material a fixed symbolic meaning.
How do I choose the right bracelet size?
Measure your wrist just below the wrist bone and compare it with the size range shown on the product page. Bead size and focal elements can affect fit, so check the Size & Fit Guide if you are unsure.
How are Jambhala pieces made?
The production process varies by design. Each piece is selected, arranged, assembled, finished, and quality checked with hands-on attention. Depending on the design, some components may be made with specialized tools or by production partners.
Choosing & Stories
How do I choose a piece?
Start wherever you prefer: the design, the material, the Being behind it, or one of the five themes. You do not need to know the story before choosing the jewelry.
Can I read the full story behind a piece?
Yes. Each Being has its own story page covering its source, visual identity, later traditions where relevant, and the way Jambhala translates it into jewelry.
