If you already enjoy wearing an agarwood bracelet, you can bring it into a short quiet pause. Take it off, rest it in your palm and notice one bead while you breathe naturally. The bracelet gives your attention a familiar place to return to. Here is one optional way to try it.
Let the bracelet rest in your hand
Sit where you can remain comfortably for a few moments. Support your forearm on a table, cushion or thigh, then let the bracelet lie loosely in one hand. Choose a smooth wood bead that is easy to reach. Touch it lightly with the pad of a finger rather than pinching it tightly.
Check how the whole piece sits before starting. A focal bead or metal spacer may feel different from the surrounding wood. Let those parts rest alongside your palm. Keep the cord relaxed, with the beads supported, so your fingers are not pulling against the strand.
Stay with one bead for a few breaths
Notice the point where your finger meets the bead: its curve, the small contact area and the amount of pressure you are using. Let your breathing continue at its ordinary pace. When your attention moves to a sound or a thought, notice that and return to the contact point.
You can keep the same bead in place for the whole pause. If you prefer a little movement, finish one natural inhale and exhale, then gently shift your finger to a neighboring wood bead. Move within the loose strand; there is no need to stretch it into a longer loop.
Choose a simple stopping point
Before you begin, decide whether to pause for a few breaths or sit until a short timer ends. You do not have to complete a circuit of the bracelet. When you finish, set it down, relax your hand and look around the room before returning to what you were doing.
This is a personal attention exercise with an ordinary piece of jewelry. A mala used for prayer or mantra recitation belongs to practices with their own instructions. If you follow one of those traditions, use the guidance of your teacher or community for its beads and counting method.
Look at the bracelet you actually have
DAIWEI combines 8.5 mm agarwood beads with gold-plated spacers and a blue mosaic-enamel focal bead. For the exercise above, you might choose one of its wood beads as the touch point and leave the decorated focal piece resting in your palm. If the movement feels awkward, set the bracelet down and continue with your hands resting.
Scent can vary between pieces and may be faint. Keep the exercise centered on touch and ordinary breathing, whether or not you notice an aroma. Afterwards, wipe away any moisture with a soft dry cloth, let the piece dry away from direct heat, and store it without adding perfume or scented oil.
