Materials of Distinction

Agarwood has been prized across Asian incense traditions for more than a thousand years. Resin-rich wood from agarwood-producing trees became closely associated with refined fragrance culture, where its rarity, aroma, and complex natural character gave it exceptional status.

Agarwood is visually quieter than a polished gemstone. Its porous grain, dark organic tone, light weight, and natural surface variation give each bead a character that feels distinctly botanical rather than manufactured.

For LUWU, Jambhala chose agarwood because the material feels especially suited to a design built around enclosure and repeated care. Two lines of dark porous beads wrap around the wrist, while faceted rose-hued stones and 18K gold-plated brass details create points of contrast within that protected structure.

From Story to Form

In the Shanhaijing, Luwu is a guardian of Kunlun whose responsibility extends beyond a single gate. It is connected with the divine enclosure and the order of the spaces within it.

That idea gives the double-wrap construction a direct role in the design. Two lines of agarwood circle the wrist, creating one layer around another, while contrasting nodes divide and organize the space within the bracelet.

Jambhala does not represent Luwu with a guardian-shaped charm. The structure itself carries the idea: protection is not only keeping something out; it is continuing to care for what belongs inside.

JEWELRY CARE

Keep your jewelry away from prolonged contact with water, perfume, lotions, sweat, and household cleaners. Remove it before showering, swimming, or exercise. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and store separately in a cool, dry place.

Natural stones, wood, amber, antler, and other natural materials may vary from piece to piece and can be sensitive to moisture, heat, strong sunlight, and impact. Avoid soaking, high temperatures, harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and hard knocks.

Jewelry is experienced not only by sight. The weight of a bead, the cool surface of stone, and the warmth wood gathers from the skin are all part of the piece.

A Jambhala piece is designed to be worn often and touched naturally, keeping its symbol—and the meaning you chose—close at hand.

We choose natural materials for their character, not for perfect uniformity. Grain, color, pattern, and surface will vary from one piece to another.

With wear, wood may deepen in tone, metal finishes may soften, and surfaces may take on subtle traces of touch. These natural changes are part of living with the piece.

THE MEANING IS YOURS

Every Jambhala piece begins with a meaning drawn from an old story. You may choose it for that meaning, for a memory of your own, or simply because you want to wear it. With time and wear, the piece becomes personal.
