A signature material does not need to match a birth month or personality type. It can simply be the stone or wood you keep wanting to wear.
Use these questions to notice your preferences.
1. What catches your eye first?
A. Deep black and strong contrast
B. Blue-green color and matrix
C. Red with dense polished color
D. Warm honey translucency
E. Grain, wood and organic surfaces
A may point toward obsidian or dark agate. B suggests turquoise. C may lead to red agate or Nan Hong. D suggests amber. E suggests woods such as sandalwood, walnut or agarwood.
2. How much weight do you enjoy?
If you like substantial jewelry, agate and many stones may appeal. If you prefer lightness, amber and wood give you more visual volume with less mass.
3. Do you want pattern or a quieter surface?
Banding and matrix create visible complexity. Obsidian gives a cleaner dark field. Clear quartz creates transparency. Wood brings grain.
4. How much care are you willing to give?
Amber is soft. Turquoise benefits from careful handling around cosmetics. Wood dislikes soaking. Agate is generally easier for everyday wear.
Your routine matters.
5. Does the story matter as much as the material?
If yes, begin with the Beings and let the story lead you toward a piece. If not, choose by material first and discover the story later.
6. What do you already wear most often?
The best clue may already be in your jewelry box. Look for repeated colors, weights and surfaces.
Your “signature” material may simply be the one you have already chosen several times.
The result
There is no score at the end. The point is to notice preference.
The material you keep returning to because its color, feel or story still interests you is probably the one worth exploring further.
